ALOR STAR: A total of 150,000 users in Kedah were left without water supply today due to high raw water turbidity reported at the Pelubang water treatment plant.
Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) said it had to reduced operations at the Pelubang water treatment plant after detecting turbidity due to continuous heavy rainfall.
The areas affected include Kota Setar district, parts of Kubang Pasu district, Ayer Hitam and Pokok Sena.
"The disruption began at 11am and it will last until raw water turbidity levels decrease and the water supply distribution is restored," it said in a statement.
Earlier, SADA had said both the Bukit Pinang and Pelubang water treatment plants were at risk of operational disruption due to high turbidity levels.
It had said that the turbidity in Bukit Pinang and Pelubang showed an upward trend, posing a risk of water supply disruptions for users in several districts.
"At present, the affected WTPs are still operating at full capacity, but SADA advises users in Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu, and parts of Pendang to make early preparations by storing water and using it sparingly," it said.
