KUALA LUMPUR: TV Pendidikan (Educational TV) programme will be aired on Astro's Tutor TV starting tomorrow, allowing students with no or limited access to the Internet to continue with their learning.
The Education Ministry, in a statement today, said Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (Astro) had agreed to work together with the ministry to broadcast TV Pendidikan programme slots on Tutor TV.
The collaboration between the ministry and Astro is in addition to the TV Pendidikan slot currently broadcast on Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) (via TV Okey) since April 6, the ministry said.
The initiative, it said, was to increase students' access to learning materials through an alternative platform besides online learning.
"This approach will help students who do not have access to the internet to follow the teaching and learning process (PdP) from home during the Movement Control Order and post-MCO.
"The ministry believes that the collaboration with Astro will benefit students, teachers and parents to enable the PdP process to be implemented more widely, especially in today's challenging environment," the statement read.
TV Pendidikan Programme, which was introduced to enable pupils to gain access to learning materials through alternative platforms will start broadcasting on Tutor TV tomorrow.
The programme will be broadcast for two hours every Monday to Friday. Broadcast time is from 10am to 11am through channel 601 and from 11am to 12pm through channel 603.
The show will broadcast from 3.00pm to 4.00pm on channel 601 and 4.00pm to 5.00pm on channel 603 on the same day.
In addition, the programme is also available for free viewing at any time through the Astro GO app which can be downloaded using devices with the Android and iOS operating systems.
The programme schedule can be found on the ministry's official site at www.moe.gov.my or on the ministry social media pages - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @KemEducation.
