Fahmi conveys condolences Astro Awani video editor's family

KUALA LUMPUR: Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolence to the family of Astro Awani video editor Ahmad Hafiz Azhar Nordin, who died this morning in a road accident.

"May Allah bless his soul and place him among the pious.

"I pray that the family of the deceased be strong and patient in facing this loss," Fahmi wrote in a post on his social media accounts.

The posting was accompanied by a picture of Ahmad Hafiz Azhar, fondly known as Randy, among his friends and colleagues.

Bernama reported that the National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJ) and the Gerakan Media Merdeka (GERAMM) described the late Ahmad Hafiz Azhar as a dedicated and committed individual in his work.

"Our deepest condolences to the deceased's family, friends and the entire Astro Awani community.

"May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah," it said.

In the 7.46 am incident, Ahmad Hafiz Azhar, who was on his way to work, was killed after his motorcycle skidded at KM 8.5 of the Maju Expressway near here.

He was pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries.

Police said the incident is believed to have occurred due to slippery road conditions during heavy rain, causing the victim to fall and hit a metal guardrail.

The body was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HUKM) for an autopsy and is expected to be taken back to his hometown in Alor Gajah, Melaka, for burial today.

Ahmad Hafiz Azhar leaves behind his wife, Nur Farrah Hanna Ibrahim, 35, and two sons, aged five years and nine months.
