PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has urged the public to download the MySejahtera and MyTrace mobile apps to help frontline workers detect new Covid-19 infections in the country.
Its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the MySejahtera app is used to conduct self-assessment, and also to help the ministry obtain early information on the health of an individual for prompt and effective action.
"Among functions of the MySejahtera app is as hotspot tracker, where the user can get more information on Covid-19 hotspots within 1 kilometre from them, or through searching.
"It also provides information on the nearest Covid-19 screening facilities and online advice," he said in his daily press conference today.
Meanwhile, the MyTrace app would enable the government to conduct contact tracing on individuals who are Covid-19 positive.
"Contact tracing is important to identify who has been in close contact with someone who is positive.
"MyTrace complements the MySejahtera app. Both apps are free," he said.
He assured the rakyat that the MyTrace app will not collect the user's geo-location information, but records Bluetooth wave logs when users are close by.
