KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting on May 18 will only be for the royal address.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof in a statement today said the one-day sitting will only see the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah delivering the royal address when opening Parliament at 10am.
"There will be no sitting after the royal address," he said.
Ariff said he received a letter from Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, as a leader of the house, on the amendment to the first meeting of the third session of the 14th parliament of Malaysia.
The amendment was made by the government due to the Covid-19 outbreak that has yet to subside.
He said the amendment was in accordance with Standing Orders 11(2) and 15(2) of the Dewan Rakyat.
Ariff said Dewan Rakyat secretary Riduan Rahmat will issue a new notice to the MPs.
