Pahang PH demands public apology from Muhyiddin to Pahang palace

KUANTAN: Pahang Pakatan Harapan (PH) has demanded that Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin make a public apology over his alleged remarks against the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during his reign as the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

State PH chairman Fuziah Salleh also called on Pahang state assembly opposition leader Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to make a clear stand on which side he was on.

"I urge the Pahang state assembly opposition leader Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to make a firm stance on whether he was with and defending the Pahang palace or otherwise because this involves the dignity of the people in Pahang who have always upheld His Majesty's decree.

"PH Pahang calls for thorough investigations to be conducted against Muhyiddin and urges him to make a public apology to the Pahang Palace," she said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Fuziah said Pahang PH was extremely sad and offended by Muhyiddin's speech which implies that the appointment of the tenth prime minister was made without adhering to the constitution and laws.

"The truth is that His Majesty had instead taken all necessary measures in accordance with the laws of the country and had sought the views of various parties including the Council of Malay Rulers through a special conference to discuss the matter," she said in a statement today.

The Pahang PKR chief described Muhyiddin's action of dragging the royal institution into the country's politics as disrespectful and seen as a desperate move to canvass for votes and confuse the people.

On Aug 15, during the campaign at Felda Perasu at the Nenggiri by-election, Muhyiddin was alleged to have touched on the authority of Al-Sultan Abdullah when serving as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Earlier today, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his anger towards Muhyiddin and wanted the police to take action without any compromise.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Muhyiddin will have his statement recorded over his speech tomorrow.
