Actress Rozita gains reprieve by partial Mara loan payment

KUALA LUMPUR: The legal action against actress Rozita Che Wan has been postponed after Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) received RM550,000 towards her outstanding debt last Friday.

Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the enforcement action was delayed following the payment, and the remaining debt must be fully settled by the end of March.

"I have said that Mara will not compromise in recovering every sen of public funds entrusted to us.

"This ensures that the money can be used to benefit those in need."

Earlier, it was reported that although only 10 years old, Rozita's daughter, Aaisyah Dhia Rana, understood her mother's situation, as she became the target of online backlash over a RM1 million loan from Mara.

In a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation between Aaisyah and she, the young girl asked about the debt.

"Mummy, have you paid the Mara debt? Is everything with Mara settled?"

Rozita reassured her daughter, confirming that the loan had been partially paid.

On Dec 10, it was reported that Rozita's home had been raided by Mara officers, along with lawyers and court representatives, over her unpaid loan obligations.

It was reported that she took out the loan in 2017 and had repaid RM50,000.

Reports also indicated that she made a recent payment at the Mara office, although the amount remains unconfirmed.
