'Hero Float' to honour frontliners

KUALA LUMPUR: Carpe Ri Sdn Bhd joins the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) on a campaign to help provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for frontliners.

Carpe Ri co-founder Danieul Mudali said this opportunity would also be utilised "to create the coolest-ever tribute to frontliners".

Called the Hero Float, Carpe Ri is set to design and produce this halal frozen dessert, in honour of frontliners.

The Hero Float will be sold at special events and participating Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) and convenience stores with part of the proceeds to go towards purchasing PPE for frontliners.

"We drew inspiration for the Hero Float from the passion, dedication and selflessness exhibited by frontliners," said Danieul.

"Our innovation carries colours brilliantly. Combine it with appropriate ingredients and it can communicate a positive frontliner backstory.

"The Hero Float is an effective tool to touch hearts and reach minds," said Danieul.

In a statement, Carpe Ri said the Hero Float would be eco-friendly and contain healthy soluble fibre and pre-biotics.

The Hero Float is set to be unveiled on June 5.

NKF Chairman Datuk Dr Zaki Morad Mohd Zaher said the NGO was grateful to be part of this campaign.

"It will help create an awareness and boost NKF's volunteer base besides raising funds. The donation of medical supplies for our frontliners is very timely," he said.

In the meantime, Danieul has put together a team of seasoned public relations experts, event organisers, social media professionals and volunteers who "just want to help honour our frontliners".

Thong Kok Wah heads iPR Malaysia, Frances Wong is Project Lead for event organiser Ideactions Touch, Joon Tan represents the Nasi Goreng 100 Project while campaign legal advisor is Alan Lim.

The Nasi Goreng 100 Project is an informal grouping of volunteers who have been donating funds and food to "anybody who says they need it" during the lockdown. They have helped more than 1,000 families over the past two months.

Joon, who is also a Carpe Ri co-founder, said that the team also wanted to honour all frontliners and was in negotiations with organisations in Asean to do similar campaigns in their respective countries.

"This Hero Float and campaign materials will be given at cost to Asean NGOs so they too can honour and help their frontliners," said Joon.
