Senior Perak firefighter killed in road accident on way to work

IPOH: The deputy chief of the Sungai Siput Fire and Rescue Station was killed in a road accident at Jalan Kuala Kangsar near the Bandar Baru Seri Klebang traffic light here, today.

Jeffrey Abdullah, 47, was killed on-the-spot due to severe head and bodily injuries in the 7.20am incident.

He was riding his motorcycle to the station when he was struck by a Perodua Myvi, driven by a 36-year-old woman, at the intersection.

"The victim, who sustained severe injuries, was pronounced dead by a medical team which arrived at the scene. His body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital's (HRPB) Forensic Unit," said Perak Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Zakaria Abd Rahman.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Jeffrey's remains were laid to rest at the Kampung Tanjung Medan Muslim Cemetery in Parit.

He leaves behind his wife, Yuhazlina Muktar and six children.
