Covid-19: Only one new case today

KUALA LUMPUR: For the second time in as many months, Malaysia recorded only one new Covid-19 case, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 9,002.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new case involved a Malaysian who had Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) after experiencing fatigue, loss of appetite, fever and cough.

He said the patient was admitted to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar for treatment.

This brings the total number of active cases currently receiving treatment at hospitals in the country to 193," he said, adding that the case was a local transmission.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were also no imported cases identified in the last 24 hours, with no new fatalities recorded. The death toll stands at 125 cases.

"As of 12pm today, 16 patients who were admitted hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19 were allowed to return home after making full recovery.

"The total number of Covid-19 patients who have fully recovered to date are 8,684 individuals, which equates a 96.5 per cent total recovery rate," he said.

Dr Noor Hisham added that there are currently no Covid-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
