Kedah football legend Faridzuan to be placed in ICU tomorrow

LANGKAWI: Kedah football legend Faridzuan Che Hamid, 53, who is currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Star, due to intestinal issues, will be moved to the Intensive Care Unit tomorrow.

The matter was confirmed by his wife, Rohani Bakar, 48.

"He (Faridzuan) has been in the general ward for the past five days due to his intestinal problems. Today, he seemed weaker, and this morning, the doctor informed us that he would be transferred to the ICU tomorrow," she said today.

Rohani said doctors decided to move her husband to the ICU after his intestines are not responding well and are failing to function properly.

"The doctors said my husband needs stronger medication to treat his weakened intestines. Due to this issue, he is unable to pass stool properly.

"However, he won't be put into an induced coma like we've heard about with Covid-19 patients before," she added.

Faridzuan, a native of Pulau Tuba, played a crucial role in Kedah's football success, including winning the 1992 Division Two League (Kedah remained undefeated in the league) and becoming runners-up in the 1992 Malaysia Cup.

Additionally, he helped the team secure the 1993 Division One League title, the 1993 Malaysia Cup, and the 1994 Charity Shield. He also represented the national team in the 1994 Asian Games.
