KUALA LUMPUR: All 912 villagers of two villages in Kuala Sanglang, Perlis, placed under the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO) since 10pm on Sunday are required to undergo a comprehensive health screening.
Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said a 40-member team from the state Health Department has been deployed to carry out the exercise involving the villagers from Kampung Kuala Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul.
Azlan said it is also compulsory for the villagers to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) enforced by the authorities throughout the TEMCO period until Sept 4.
"The police started patrolling and controlling entry and exit points involving the two villages immediately after the TEMCO came into force at 10pm yesterday (Aug 8).
"The Perlis Education Department has also prepared temporary accommodation to house 15 Form Six Students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Syed Alwi, who will be sitting for their examination this Wednesday (Aug 12).
"The students have either been relocated to the school's hostels or alternative accommodation located near the school," said Azlan in a statement which was shared on his official Facebook account today.
The state government, he said, with the cooperation of the Civil Defence Force, has activated a quarantine centre to house people who are required to be isolated to prevent Covid-19 cases from escalating.
Azlan also confirmed that the state Education Department has ordered three schools in Sanglang to be temporarily closed for two weeks from Aug 10 until Aug 23.
"A total of 876 students and 112 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sanglang, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sanglang and SJKC Chin Hun are affected by the temporary closure of the schools.
"Teachers involved are required to undergo mandatory Home Isolation Order (HIO) during the period.
"The state government, with the cooperation of the Sanglang state assemblyman, will immediately arrange for the distribution of basic food under the 'Program Agihan Makanan Asas' (Basic Food Distribution Programme) or PAMA to families in both villages," he added.
