KUCHING: A traffic police officer from the Sibu station is being investigated for kicking a motorcyclist, causing him to fall off his bike.
In a video clip which has gone viral, the officer, who was conducting Op Motorcycle at Jalan Temple in Sibu at around 12.15pm, is seen kicking a motorcyclist for making a sudden U-turn. The footage was recorded by a bystander.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said stern action will be taken against the officer if he is found guilty.
"So far, we are investigating the matter. Action will be taken if the officer is found to have been negligent in his actions and acted aggressively while carrying out his duties," he said.
Aidi said a probe showed that the motorcyclist did not have a licence, and his road tax had expired.
"The motorcyclist will also be summoned for riding in the opposite direction and modifying the exhaust pipe (of his bike)," he said.
