KUALA LUMPUR: Sekolah Kebangsaan Bangsar will be closed for a week starting today, after two of its pupils tested positive for Covid-19.
SK Bangsar principal Soharto Baharen, in a circular distributed to parents, said the closure, until Oct 16, was to enable the authorities to conduct the necessary procedures including sanitisation and disinfection works.
Soharto said investigation as well as close-contact tracing would also be conducted within the period.
The Year Five and Year Four pupils, both girls, were understood to have contracted the virus from their relatives who had attended a 'kenduri' recently.
Health Ministry staff visited the school on Thursday to administer Covid-19 swab tests on students as well as teachers. The swab tests involved around 80 pupils from Years Four and Five, as well as 26 teachers identified as close contacts of the two pupils.
Following the incident, none of the school's 800 students attended today's morning session following concerns raised by parents over possible infection.
