KUALA LUMPUR: The government has decided to implement the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at a hostel housing for employees of Tropicana Corporation Bhd in Petaling Jaya, near here.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO will be enforced for 14 days starting 12.01am on Oct 12 until Oct 25.
The Senior Defence Minister said some 500 employees at the hostel would be affected by the EMCO.
Residents of the Tropicana Golf Club and Country Resort, as well as the golf club however would not be affected by the order.
"Following Covid-19 cases detected among employees of Tropicana Corporation Bhd in Petaling Jaya, the government has sought the advice from the Health Ministry on the matter.
"The special ministerial meeting which convened today has decided to implement the EMCO at the hostel housing for employees of the company in Petaling Jaya.
"This will enable the health authorities to conduct the necessary measures to curb the spread of Covid-19," Ismail Sabri, who is observing home quarantine, said in a press conference that was streamed live via the National Security Council's official Facebook page.
