NIBONG TEBAL: About 20 foreign workers were left with only the clothes on their backs when a fire destroyed their house at Jalan Kerian Kedah - Taman Jawi Indah here today.
The Nibong Tebal Fire and Rescue station was alerted to the incident at 11.21 am.
Operations commander Ahmad Zaki Sabri said some 80 percent of the house, used as a workers' hostel, was destroyed in the fire.
"All the foreign workers were out when the fire broke out," he said, adding that the operation to control and extinguish the fire was also assisted by nearby volunteer firefighting units.
Ahmad Zaki said the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and conducted an overhaul.
