TELUK INTAN: A 78-year-old man died in a fire which gutted two houses at Jalan Selat here, early today.
Tan Ah Lang, who is believed to have been trapped, was found dead on a bed in the middle of the house in the 4.40am incident.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a distress call was received at 4.42am.
"A team of firemen from Hutan Melintang was dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, found that 90 per cent of the houses were already destroyed.
"We found the body at about 6.30am," he added.
