KUALA LUMPUR: Labuan has become the latest area to be placed under a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), following in the footsteps of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor and Sabah.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, announcing this today, said the CMCO for Labuan will be enforced from Oct 17 to Oct 30.
"The National Security Council meeting chaired by the prime minister has agreed to place Labuan under the CMCO. The standard operating procedures (SOP) will be issued tomorrow."
The minister acknowledged that the shipping industry was significant for Labuan. As such, ports are allowed to operate as usual while offshore staff sign-on and sign-offs must be in compliance with the SOPs.
However, he said barter trade practices among ships are not allowed, including those involving small vessels from the Philippines, among others.
Water taxis and boats are allowed to operate between 6am and 6pm.
