KUALA LUMPUR: Rumours that Melaka will be placed under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) is fake news.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today anyone monitoring his daily press conferences would know that he had never announced that Melaka would be placed under CMCO.
"I would like to inform the people that apart from myself, the other spokesman for the government is the Health director-general (Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah). I will speak on non-health issues while the health director-general will update the public on the daily new cases and other health-related issues.
"Since none of us had ever mentioned that Melaka would placed under the CMCO, the message (that went viral on the social media) is certainly fake news," he said.
Ismail Sabri said those monitoring the number of cases daily would also know that Melaka was still nowhere near being a red zone state.
Most districts, he said, were in the yellow zone, while there were one or two districts with less than 10 cases.
