KUALA LUMPUR: The 2021 Budget, scheduled to be tabled in Parliament next month, is very crucial to the people in the fight against Covid-19 and to restore the country's economy, says Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The King stressed this in a statement from Istana Negara issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin this evening.
"The financial allocation is very much needed for the frontliners to carry out their duties and responsibilities accordingly," the statement said.
The 2021 Budget is scheduled to be tabled Nov 6 with Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz previously stating that the government was formulating comprehensive measures under the Budget based on the findings of the Prihatin Rakyat economic stimulus package survey.
Meanwhile, in the same statement, Datuk Ahmad Fadil said Al-Sultan Abdullah was very concerned about anxiety among the people stemming from the surge of daily Covid-19 cases and the emergence of new clusters detected in several parts of the country over the past weeks.
Nevertheless, Ahmad Fadil said the King expressed his confidence that the unity and high spirit displayed among the people in joining hands could fight the third wave of the pandemic.
"In this regard, His Majesty calls on all the people, irrespective of background and in particular political ideology, to set aside all differences and unite as well as play their respective roles in helping the government and the authorities contain the pandemic not only to protect themselves from the virus but also for the well-being of the nation.
"Al-Sultan Abdullah also takes this opportunity to invite the people to join His Majesty and pray that the pandemic can be eliminated effectively and immediately," the statement said.
