KUALA LUMPUR: The Irrigation and Drainage Department has issued an early flood forecast for 10 districts in Johor, following continuous rainfall expected from Nov 26 to Nov 29.
The department, in a statement, said several areas in the Segamat district, especially those located within the Sungai Muar river basin, are expected to experience flooding.
"In the Kluang district, areas within the Sungai Endau river basin (including Sungai Kahang, Mengkibol, Melantai, Tekedai, Air Tawar 3, Palas, Endau, Parit Besar Semanyir, Padang, and Sembrong Besar) are also expected to be affected," the statement said.
Additionally, areas in the Sungai Benut river basin, including Sungai Berumbung, Ulu Benut, Machap, Linau, and Benut, as well as the Sungai Johor river basin, are also at risk.
"In the Mersing district, areas in the Sungai Mersing river basin (including Sungai Derhaka, Mersing, Air Merah, and Parit Tadahan Pengkalan Batu) and the Sungai Tenglu Besar river basin (including Sungai Tenglu Kecil and Tenglu Besar) are also expected to be affected.
"The Kulai district, within the Sungai Pontian Besar river basin (including Sungai Pontian Besar, Ayer Hitam, Ulu Pontian Besar, and Rambutan), the Sungai Skudai river basin, and the Sungai Tebrau river basin are also on alert."
The department also said the Kota Tinggi district is expected to experience flooding, affecting the Sungai Johor river basin (including Sungai Mas, Johor, Kepala Orang, Pemandi, Lalang, Telor, Chemaran, Kemang, and Sayong), as well as the Sungai Sedili Besar river basin, the Sungai Rengit river basin, and the Sungai Sepang river basin.
For the Johor Baru district, areas around the Sungai Pulai, Sungai Skudai, and Sungai Tebrau river basins are also expected to be affected by the wet spell.
The department also forecasted that the Muar, Tangkak, and Pontian districts will not be spared from the wet spell.
