Man in Jasin stabs neighbour's dog to death in horrific manner

JASIN: A 37-year-old man disemboweled his neighbour's dog with a machete on Thursday night at Taman Maju, here.

In the 9.30pm incident, the man was believed to have snuck into his neighbour's car porch before going berserk and attacking the dog.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mispani Hamdan said the 50-year-old housewife heard her dog barking incessantly outside and peeked through her bedroom window to check on the dog.

He said the woman was shocked to see the suspect attacking her dog with a machete.

"Based on initial report, the woman's gate was unlocked. She was terrified to save her dog when she saw what the neighbour was doing to her dog," he said when contacted.

Mispani said the dog's intestines spilled out and was still alive before it succumbed to its injuries a few hours later.

"The suspect was seen to be intoxicated when he left his neighbour's compound and started shouting outside the house."

Pictures of the injured dog after the brutal attack posted on the Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia official Facebook account went viral.

Mispani said police detained the suspect on the same day and seized several items including a sickle.

He said the man, who is jobless, has been remanded for four days until tomorrow to assist in investigation.
