Downpour leaves parts of KL flooded; uprooted trees, traffic jams reported

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain since 5pm had left several areas in the city here inundated with water.

In a statement, the KL Fire and Rescue Department said that there were four reports of flash floods in the city, with at least two trees uprooted.

Flooding was also reported at Jalan 21/26 of Taman Sri Rampai, Jalan Hang Lekui, Jalan Segambut and Jalan Keramat, where water rose to between 0.5m and 0.9m. But floodwaters subsided by the time firemen arrived at the affected locations.

"Two victims who were trapped inside a house at Jalan Keramat were also rescued," it said.

The department added that fallen trees were reported at Jalan Damansara and the Air Panas People's Housing Project (PPR), but nobody was injured.

It said firemen were dispatched to clear the debris which had caused massive traffic congestion.
