Knock, knock, who's there? No idea!

SABAK BERNAM: Mysterious loud knocks have baffled residents here since Wednesday, triggering speculations of mischievous individuals attempting to scare people.

The unexplained incidents were shared on social media and have since gone viral.

It is learned that the knocking takes place late at night until early morning, involving several villages including Kampung Batu 38, Kampung Tengah and Kampung Banting.

Kampung Batu 37 resident Mhd Khairol Anuar Mhd Zaini, 38, said he heard knocking on his kitchen door at about 10.45pm one night.

"The knocking was loud, it sounded like someone was in a hurry to get inside.

"When I peeked through the window, I did not see anyone. A few minutes later, I heard another knocking sound, this time from a bathroom in the house," he said, adding the second knock was particularly unnerving as the bathroom in question had not been used by anyone in a while.

"The hair on my arm stood and it sent a cold chill down my spine," he said when contacted.

Nor Zaihana Yaakob, 38, from Kampung Tengah said she and her two children as well as her mother experienced something similar.

When she heard the knocking at her door one night, she initially thought it was two of her relatives returning home from work.

"But, I did not see anyone when I looked out the window. No doubt it was scary especially since my husband was not at home at the time as he was working the night shift," she said.

Kampung Batu 37 Darat Village Community Management Council chairman Muhammad Nazri Saiman confirmed receiving reports regarding these incidents.

Muhammad Nazri said the mysterious knocking also happened to him when he was at home at about 11pm on Wednesday.

"I was told that half of the villagers have similar experience. I have told them to be careful and not to open their doors when they hear such knocks."

He added that the villagers were advised to call the police or the council if they saw any suspicious characters lurking.

"We have begun patrolling our area from 10am to 3am."
