KUALA LUMPUR: The government has decided to extend the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Zone B and Zone C of Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh, Perak, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
At his daily Covid-19 press conference today, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at the areas will be extended by seven days from Dec 4 to Dec 10.
"The Health Ministry has screened 1,793 people of whom 66 people tested positive for Covid-19 at these localities.
"Up to now, the Health Ministry has confirmed that there are still test samples that have yet to receive the results and based on the ministry's advice and risk assessment, today's meeting agreed to extend the EMCO at Zone B and Zone C of Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh, Perak, for seven days beginning Dec 4 to Dec 10," he said.
At the same time, Ismail Sabri also said that several locations will no longer be under the EMCO, some ending today while the rest will end tomorrow.
In Penang, he said the EMCO at Seberang Perai Prison and the prison quarters ended today.
Meanwhile, the EMCO at Tawau temporary detention centre, Sandakan Prison, Sandakan's Taman Wira prison quarters, Kampung Nahaba and Kampung Tegudon in Kota Belud will end tomorrow.
According to him, so far the Health Ministry has conducted 3,254 tests at the affected areas in Seberang Perai and of that, 606 people were tested positive for Covid-19.
At the Tawau detention centre, Ismail Sabri said 774 people were found positive for the virus while the Covid-19 tests at the Sandakan Prison and Taman Wira prison quarters revealed that 799 people were infected.
