PETALING JAYA: A road accident victim was forced to crawl out of a crushed vehicle, which was stuck in a drain near the Subang airport, to seek help after the incident went unnoticed by passers-by.
The 24-year-old victim, who was covered in mud, was forced to walk at least 300 metres before she managed to get help at a Malaysia Airport Bhd's (MAB) auxiliary police post.
The auxiliary police there administered first aid treatment to the victim's injured hand before reporting the incident and contacting the hospital.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the police received a report of the incident at 6.30pm before dispatching a team to the area to investigate.
"Investigations revealed that the victim's vehicle had swerved into a huge drain at the roundabout in the direction of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Terminal.
"The victim succeeded in getting out of the vehicle through the driver's seat window and walked for about 300 metres from the spot to get help at the MAB auxiliary police post," he said in a statement today.
He said the victim, who is a student at a higher learning institution, was taken to the UiTM Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
The victim sustained a sprain in the left hand and was reported to be in stable condition.
The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
