KOTA TINGGI: Flooding has eased here, but several roads are still submerged and closed to traffic.
A check by the News Strait Times showed that floodwaters have receded in a number of areas in the town centre.
But still-flooded roads include Jalan Tun Habab, one of the main roads into town, which is located next to Sungai Johor.
Clear weather is aiding the improvement of the flooding situation.
However, several shop houses near the river are still inundated by floodwaters of between one and 1.4 metre high.
Yesterday, Kota Tinggi was cut off from surrounding areas after roads to enter and exit the town were submerged in two metre-high floodwaters.
Kota Tinggi is one of Johor's worst-affected districts by the floods, with 2,707 victims from 682 families currently taking shelter at 23 temporary relief centres.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to visit two relief centres, in Kolej Vokasional Kota Tinggi and SK Laksamana, here, this afternoon.
