Kedah records dip in overall flood evacuees despite rising numbers in Kota Setar district

ALOR STAR: Despite a rise in evacuees in the Kota Setar and Pendang districts, the overall flood situation in Kedah improved slightly this afternoon.

This is as some 500 evacuees were allowed to return home.

The Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that as of 4pm today, 3,172 people from 986 households are now sheltered at 19 temporary flood relief centres (PPS), down from 3,655 people this morning.

Kubang Pasu and Pokok Sena showed improvement as more evacuees from the two districts were allowed to return home.

In Kubang Pasu, the remaining evacuees are 430 people from 148 households, followed by Pokok Sena with 531 people from 187 families.

In Kota Setar, the number of evacuees today went up from 1,699 people from 513 households to 1,701 people from 512 families taking shelter in nine PPS, while in Pendang, 510 evacuees are still sheltering in two PPS.
