KUALA LUMPUR: Daily Covid-19 cases continue to increase as yet another record is set today with 3,027 new cases.
This is the first time Malaysia breached the 3,000 mark for daily cases since the novel coronavirus hit our shores.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of cases to 128,465 with 25,742 being active cases.
He said of the new cases, only six were imported while 3,021 were local transmissions.
"Johor records the highest number of cases with 1,103 followed by 705 in Selangor and 493 in Sabah."
Dr Noor Hisham also said eight fatalities were reported today and the death toll now stood at 521.
He said there are 142 patients currently being treated in intensive care units and 63 of them require breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, 2,145 more patients have recovered, taking the recovery tally to 102,723.
