Interstate travel during MCO allowed for 'specific cases' [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: All interstate travel will be barred during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) which begins tomorrow.

However, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said some exemptions will be made for individuals who face specific circumstances.

"For example, those who have already purchased flight tickets and bus tickets will be exempted and allowed to undertake interstate travel.

"Similarly, I hope those who have returned to their hometowns to visit their relatives who are sick should return home, latest by this Friday, to avoid getting stranded in their respective hometowns for the next two weeks," he said.

Ismail Sabri said those in MCO areas would not be allowed to leave their residences save for reasons such as buying essential items or emergencies.

A maximum of three individuals, including the patient, would be allowed to access healthcare facilities within a 10km radius of their home.

Meanwhile, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and other disaster relief aid groups are allowed to visit flood-hit zones provided they register with the respective District Disaster Control Management bodies.

NGO workers are also encouraged to undergo Covid-19 screening.
