KUALA LUMPUR: The government was today briefed on the proposed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to allow sports and recreational activities to resume during the Movement Control Order (MCO2.0) period.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the proposed SOP was tabled by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
The proposed SOP, said Ismail Sabri, involved outdoor sports activities such as gymnasiums at residential areas as well as those which do not involve physical touching or large crowds.
"The ministry had also tabled SOP on quarantine-based approach training for athletes as well as those related to high-impact sports tournament such as the Malaysian Football League, Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) and the Sepak Takraw League (STL).
"The ministry had also raised the proposal of implementing a Sports Bubble for discussion," he said.
Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry had also proposed SOP to enable more businesses in the retail industry to operate during the MCO2.0 period.
"We will review and seek the advice from the Health Ministry on all the proposals tabled by the two ministries.
"The Health Ministry will evaluate and conduct risk assessments including checking details on new clusters emerging related to each of the sectors in making their decision.
"The government will make an announcement soon (on whether the sectors under the two ministries allowed to operate or otherwise)," he said.
