PUTRAJAYA: The government has updated standard operating procedures (SOP) for non-Muslim houses of worship in states under the Movement Control Order (MCO), Conditional MCO and Recovery MCO, effective yesterday.
In a statement, the National Unity Ministry (KPN) said the new SOPs will apply from yesterday (Feb 19) to March 4.
For states under the MCO, the number of devotees allowed to offer prayers at their respective houses of worship is limited to only 30 at any one time, from between 6am and 2pm and 4pm and 10pm.
For premises in CMCO states, no more than half the capacity of houses of worship are allowed at any one time, according to National Security Council (MKN) regulations. This is subject to the permission given by the respective state governments and the Federal Territory Ministry.
Meanwhile, houses of worship in RMCO states can host devotees at their full capacity.
The duration of prayers at CMCO and RMCO states are subject to the management of the respective houses of worship, said the ministry.
The same SOP applies for Chap Goh Mei prayers at houses of worship on Feb 26.
"The prayers must be held within the houses of worship and shall not be extended beyond the compound.
"The ministry would like to remind devotees to adhere to SOP to prevent any Covid-19 transmission and help the government break the chain of infection," it said.
