IPOH: One person was killed and another injured when a car driven by a disabled man crashed into a restaurant at Jalan Batu Sinar, Kampar, today, Bernama reported.
It is learnt that the disabled man, 54, was trying to park his car in front of the restaurant to buy food, when he accidently stepped on the accelerator.
The deceased in the 9.40am accident was cook Wong Kwai Yung, 59, who was preparing food at the restaurant's five-foot way.
The injured was fellow restaurant worker, Sek Loow See, 50.
"The car struck the two workers who were cooking at a stall located in front of the restaurant," Kampar district police chief, Superintendent Hasron Nazri Hashim, said in a statement today.
Wong died at the scene from serious head injuries; while Sek was slightly injured on his shoulder and legs.
There were several customers present at the restaurant when the accident occurred.
Hasron Nazri said the driver, originally from Klang, Selangor and his 42-year-old female passenger from Kampar were not injured in the accident.
He said the victim's body was sent to the Kampar Hospital and the injured cook was treated at the same hospital, Bernama reported.
