KUALA LUMPUR: Failure to observe physical distancing tops the list of 517 violations of the Movement Control Order's (MCO) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) yesterday.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement said the breakdown of the violations yesterday saw 202 incidents of failure to observe physical distancing; followed by failing to provide registration equipment at premises (95); not wearing face masks (66); entertainment activities (64) and inter-district and interstate travel without approval (64).
Eighteen were found flouting the SOP by opening their business premises beyond permitted hours and one for being out of their home with no valid reason, apart from seven other violations.
Ismail Sabri said a total of 513 were slapped with compounds while four were remanded.
On the compliance operation task force, Ismail Sabri said police held 63,955 inspections nationwide.
Among the locations inspected were 17,756 recreational areas; 4,539 supermarkets; 5,698 restaurants; 3,992 hawker stalls; 2,306 factories; 2,482 banks and 896 government offices; 366 houses of worship, 136 wet markets nationwide.
As for Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 33 illegal immigrants were nabbed and four land vehicles seized.
"During the operation, the authorities detected 102 boats and nine land vehicles via 12 surveillance activities. Four illegal immigrants were also deported," he said.
Ismail Sabri said 983 individuals arrived at international entry points yesterday and all were ordered to undergo quarantine.
On sanitation operations, Ismail Sabri said 87 sanitisation operations were held yesterday nationwide involving 27 red zones, four orange zones, 11 yellow zones, and three green zones.
Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry had conducted 747 daily inspections over 11 essential goods at retailers (573), wholesalers (143) and manufacturers (31).
"From the total, 2,142 premises complied with the SOP but seven were slapped with compounds and four received warnings.
"The ministry also held 2,153 special SOP compliance inspections yesterday," he said.
Ismail Sabri said 56 out of 3,692 foreign workers screened for Covid-19, tested positive yesterday.
"The Human Resources Ministry informed that a cumulative total of 589,220 foreign workers had undergone the Covid-19 screening test involving 30,800 employers.
"From the number, 9,381 people tested positive for Covid-19 while 579,839 were found negative.
"To date, 1,513 clinics are involved in the mandatory screening programme for foreign workers."
