Possible exemption cert for those who cannot be vaccinated [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is mulling issuing exemption certificates for those who are unable to get the Covid-19 vaccination due to health reasons.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister (Mosti) Khairy Jamaluddin said there were individuals who were immune-compromised or have allergies.

"They won't be inoculated, but not by choice.

"We are working on a mechanism for this purpose to ensure equity of treatment for this group," he said after visiting the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Covid-19 vaccination centre.

He said those who receive Covid-19 vaccination would get a digital certificate, with the information updated with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other countries.

The use of a digital health passport, which is being considered by many countries, could serve as risk mitigation to prevent the spread of Covid-19 for travellers.

On a separate matter, Khairy, who is the Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said it might hold a meeting with representatives from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to include homeless people to be inoculated against Covid-19, as well as non-governmental organisations representing different groups like refugees and undocumented migrants.
