Kelantan KPDNHEP seizes 800kg of flour sold without licence

RANTAU PANJANG: The State Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) seized 800kg of flour after the shopowner was found to have sold the controlled items without a licence.

Pasir Mas KPDNHEP chief Suhaimi Abas said the flour was seized in a raid which was carried out at about 9.30am.

"A KPDNHEP team went to the shop after receiving information on a trader who sold flour without a licence.

"After raiding the place, they found 600kg of flour inside the premises," he said in a statement.

Suhaimi said the owner would be called for questioning soon.

"Initial investigation showed that the flour, which is a controlled item, was being kept by the owner to be sold to customers for the coming Ramadan month," he said.

He added traders needed to obtain a licence to sell the controlled item.

"Those found selling controlled items illegally can either be fined or jailed under the Control of Supplies Act 1961," he added.
