Bubur Lambuk Budu in Kelantan...why not?

KOTA BARU: If there is nothing else that makes the bubur lambuk all the more unique and delicious, the Kelantan folks have decided to add budu into the recipe.

Budu, a salty and tangy sauce made from fermented anchovies and spices, had made its way into the simmering pots of Jewels Hotel here in the city since the start of Ramadan.

The hotel's manager Muhammad Azrin Zainal Abidin said the budu heightened the flavour of the dish which usually include fish and vegetables.

Yesterday, 500 packs of the bubur lambuk were given away for free to motorists who might not be home in time to break their fast after work.

"The budu makes our bubur lambuk different from the ones you find in Kampung Baru (Kuala Lumpur)," Muhammad Azrin said.

He said the hotel had been giving away free bubur lambuk for over four years.

This year, Azrin said the programme was held according to the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

"All staff members are told to obey the SOP strictly by wearing face masks and maintain physical distancing when distributing the food to motorists."
