KUALA LUMPUR: More than 150,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered yesterday – the highest daily rate so far.

The figure meets the government's target to achieve a daily vaccination rate of 150,000 doses by end of this month, before increasing it to 200,000 doses by next month.

The latest development was shared by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) on social media today.

A total 105,722 individuals received their first doses yesterday, while 45,587 individuals received their second doses.

The increase in the number of daily vaccination was also supported by 276 vaccination centres (PPV) nationwide, along with an increase in drive-thru PPVs.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali reportedly said that more drive-thru PPVs will be established nationwide.

Currently, the drive-thru PPVs are located at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Specialist Children's Hospital.

Drive-thru PPVs were also set up at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam campus, with more to come at another 19 higher learning institutions.

Other initiatives such as providing mobile vaccination facilities were also implemented in the rural areas, for those facing difficulties in terms of transportation as well as senior citizens living alone.

To date, about 2.5 million individuals have been vaccinated, while more than 12 million individuals have registered to get their Covid-19 vaccination.
