5,150 new Covid-19 cases today, 73 fatalities [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia registered 5,150 new Covid-19 cases today, a slight drop from yesterday's 5,419 infection.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor contributed the highest number of new infections with 1,914 cases, followed by 607 in Negri Sembilan and 570 in Sarawak.

States with three-digit cases were Kuala Lumpur with 480, followed by Johor (392), Kelantan (230), Kedah (228), Sabah (184), Melaka (152) and Labuan (101).

Penang logged 99 new cases, followed by Perak (66), Pahang (57), Terengganu (56), Perlis (eight) and Putrajaya (six).

The new cases today brought the country's tally to 673,026, with 67,949 active cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 5,147 local transmissions, and three imported cases.

He also said Malaysia recorded 73 fatalities, pushing the cumulative Covid-19 deaths to 4,142.

Dr Noor Hisham said 924 cases were currently treated at the intensive care units, including 453 required ventilator support.

He also said 7,240 patients were discharged today, bringing the tally of recoveries to 600,935.

Meanwhile, 19 new clusters had emerged today involving 10 workplace-linked clusters, five community clusters, and four high-risk group clusters.
