Jais allows nikah ceremony from July 1

SHAH ALAM : Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has allowed 'nikah' (solemnisation) ceremony to be held from July 1.

The ceremony was temporarily barred following the implementation of the Movement Control Order.

In a Facebook post, Jais in a statement said physical attendance for the ceremony at Jais and district Islamic religious offices (Paid) is allowed daily from Monday to Sunday.

It explained that couples who will be solemnised are limited to those who have made an appointment at Jais and Paid offices.

"Attendance is limited to the bride and groom, as well as the wali (legal guardian of the bride). No other persons, including photographers, are allowed."

Those who will present are also required to undergo Real-Time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Covid-19 test 72 hours of the ceremony, with the results to be submitted to the office on the day itself.
