Stop work order issued for construction work in EMCO areas

KUALA LUMPUR: All construction and related works in areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) as listed by the National Security Council (NSC) must cease immediately.

Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also said the letter previously issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry was no longer valid and can't be used to continue any construction work.

However, he said exemptions were given for critical maintenance, repair and wiring works, adding that this must be done through appointments.

"To carry out the work mentioned, the parties involved can get permission from the nearest police station.

"At the same time, the Works Ministry urges all construction industry players to obey all guidelines and standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the NSC to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases in those areas," he said in a statement today.

Several areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have been placed under EMCO for 14 days, starting July 3 until July 16.
