SHAH ALAM: SelVAX Industry, which is part of the Selangor Vaccination Programme (SelVAX), has to date received registration from 62,000 companies involving 2.9 million workers.
Selangor Industry and Trade executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim said of the total, 13,000 workers from the manufacturing and service sectors have been vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine since the initial phase commenced on June 26.

"This programme is open to companies or industries to participate voluntarily. However, they must cover the cost of participating in the SelVAX Industry programme to vaccinate their employees," he said at a press conference held virtually today.
Teng said the SelVAX Industry Committee at a meeting on July 2 decided that the implementation of this programme would be based on the "Industry Oriented Ring Vaccination Strategy".
"The industry's needs in the manufacturing and services sectors will be given priority and factories and companies with the most employees will be among the top, subject to the acceptance of the offer and its processes.
"However, a category of SMEs with less than 200 employees will also be included in the programme simultaneously," he said.
He said priority would be given to companies registered and/or operating in Selangor and the Klang Valley and companies in the essential sectors approved by the National Security Council.

"The cost of the entire programme - service, system, management and vaccination will be borne by the company or employer and they cannot impose any fees on their employees.
"The total cost of this programme which has been agreed by the Selangor government is RM350.00 for two doses."
He said Tropicana Gardens Mall, Kota Damansara; Evo Mall, Bandar Baru Bangi; Hotel De Palma, Shah Alam; PKNS sports complex, Kelana Jaya; and Aurora Place, Bukit Jalil are the five vaccination centres to carry out the SelVAX Industry programme.
"At the same time, SelVAX Industry will also implement the vaccination process through the workplace vaccination programme, subject to the suitability of the hall or location, and also, through Selcare panel clinics in Selangor and the Klang Valley.
"Capacity in all these locations can reach 40,000 doses per day at its maximum."
