Gordon Ramsay to open his first restaurant in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians will soon be able to titillate their taste buds to the famous and signature dishes of multi Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay following the opening of his first restaurant in Malaysia.

Sunway Resorts will host the world-renowned celebrity chef's first restaurant - Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill - which will also be Ramsay's first all-day dining restaurant outside Mayfair, London.

Harian Metro learned that RM240 million in renovation works is underway to transform Sunway Resort.

Ramsay's first restaurant in the country, located at the resort's lobby level, will feature, among others, iconic contemporary interiors, floor-to-ceiling window frames with views of the lagoon, and private dining rooms for intimate events.

The New Straits Times earlier this year reported that Ramsay will be opening his restaurant at the lobby level of Sunway Resort in Petaling Jaya near here.

Sunway Resorts, in a statement posted on its website, said the restaurant would serve Gordon's signature dishes such as Beef Wellington and Sticky Toffee Pudding, snacks and light bites among others.

Ramsay, who owns over 30 successful restaurants worldwide, is known for his strict and blunt demeanour, as well as his fiery temper.

The celebrated chef became a household name internationally after presenting a slew of popular TV shows on competitive cookery and food that include Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, Hotel Hell and MasterChef.

In 2019, Ramsay was the 35th highest-earning celebrity in the world on Forbes list. As of last year, the British celebrity chef has an estimated net worth of a whopping USD200 million (more than RM900 million).
