KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein will return to lead efforts to manage the Covid-19 pandemic in the country under the National Security Council (NSC).
The matter was confirmed by the Senior Defence Minister during a press conference here today.
"I wanted to inform all that the NSC's special meeting earlier today confirmed that I return to lead efforts to manage the pandemic which I assumed during my tenure as the Senior Foreign Minister (under the previous leadership).
"Among the instructions given to me by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was to review and improve existing standard operation procedures (SOP) from time to time.
"I believe such a task is an ongoing effort that requires an inclusive approach," he told reporters here today.
Hishammuddin, who is also the Sembrong Member of Parliament, said he is open and ready to accept constructive proposals from the public on ways the government can better manage the pandemic.
"We, through the NSC have many platforms for the people to provide feedback on the matter.
"For myself, I am (actively) on Instagram.. I have my own Facebook, you can also (send a) Tweet to me anytime.
"And it is better for you to forward constructive ideas and criticisms rather than just saying no to all measures introduced by the government.
"I am giving the public an opportunity to provide feedback since we do not have a monopoly to say what we are doing is right," he said.
