PM: Cemetery visits allowed, subject to state Islamic authorities and Unity Ministry rules

KUALA LUMPUR: People will be allowed to pay their respects and visit cemeteries starting Sept 17.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the easing of standard operating procedures (SOP) on visiting cemeteries is applicable irrespective of the status of the states under the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

"For visits at a Muslim cemetery, the requirement is subjected to the condition set by the Islamic Department in the respective states.

"Visiting cemeteries involving religions other than Islam is allowed according to the requirements fixed by the National Unity Ministry," he said in a statement today.

The prime minister also announced that cruise ships will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and that their staff including cabin stewards as well as passengers must be fully vaccinated.
