Students did not die from Covid-19 vaccines, say police

IPOH: Police today denied two students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tasek Damai here died after receiving their Covid-19 vaccines.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalthrash Wahid said investigations revealed that the deaths were from Covid-19 and a heart attack.

Mior Faridalathrash said it was alleged that both of them died following their Covid-19 vaccination, and the matter had since gone viral on social media.

"The first student died on July 18 after two critical months of fighting for her life at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital due to complications caused by Covid-19 infection.

"She also had a number of comorbidities, which included diabetes and chronic high blood pressure," he said when contacted today.

Mior Faridalthrash added that the second student died on Sept 17 due to a heart attack.

"As such, their deaths are not linked to Covid-19 inoculation in any way, because the vaccination programme for teenagers in Perak only commenced on Sept 20.

"The claim is very misleading and invalid," he said adding that police would take the statement of the woman who appeared in the video as her message could cause public outrage.

In the one-minute and 38 second video, the woman spoke in front of a group as a sign of solidarity to demand the right that school students not be required to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

In her speech, the woman claimed that there were two students from SMK Tasek Damai who died from Covid-19 vaccines.

She also claimed that two other students in Lahad Datu, Sabah and two other teenagers in Ipoh have suffered from Covid-19 vaccination side effects.
