NSC chief says Malaysia on right path to Covid-19 recovery

KUALA LUMPUR: The easing of Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOP) restrictions, reopening of more activities and the implementation of the country's first travel bubble project in Langkawi are proof that Malaysia is on the right path under the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

National Security Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad said this was the conclusion drawn after he visited Langkawi recently, where he saw all parties involved playing their role to ensure compliance with the SOP on the travel bubble project.

He said the level of awareness among tourists visiting the island was also at a high level.

This, he said, was coupled with effective monitoring by authorities and stakeholders to ensure the success of the travel bubble initiative.

"We hope the Langkawi travel bubble will serve as a catalyst for local economic growth and that the island remains a safe tourist destination (from Covid-19).

"Mari kita bercuti di Langkawi (Let's go on a holiday to Langkawi)," he said on a social media posting on his Facebook today.

Rodzi said, during his visit to Langkawi, he also met with medical and healthcare frontliners as well as Langkawi International Airport personnel.

He said he also met security frontliners including the police, Civil Defence Force and those from the Immigration Department.
