BENTONG: Pahang residents should not let their guard down following the state's transition to Phase 4 under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) effective tomorrow.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said although Phase 4 would allow more leniency in the freedom of movement, the people should continue to strictly adhere to the existing standard operating procedures (SOP).
"It (the transition) is a positive sign for the economy, sports events, business and (social) gatherings, offering plenty of advantages to the people. There will be less restrictions and people will be able to enjoy more things.
"However, do not take things lightly and everybody must continue to adhere to the SOP which have been put in place from the start of the pandemic. Wearing face masks, maintaining social distance and avoiding crowded places must continue to be practiced," he said.
Wan Rosdy said this after the handing over of Section 5C and 5D of the Central Spine Road between Bentong bypass and Lebu at Mempaga roundabout here today.
Earlier, he jointly officiated the 28.5km stretch costing RM631.98 million, with Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Wan Rosdy cautioned that a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases could reverse the privileges earlier accorded.
"We want to enjoy this freedom. So, it is important for everyone to comply with the SOP," he said.
Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein yesterday announced that the Covid-19 Pandemic Management Special Committee had decided to allow Pahang to move to Phase 4 from Phase 3 under the NRP effective Friday.
