KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry reported 95 Covid-19 deaths on Thursday (Oct 28), a slight decrease from 98 logged on Oct 27.
According to the ministry's data shared on CovidNow and GitHub, the latest fatalities raised the country's death toll to 28,769.
Of the 95 deaths, 24 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases, increasing the nationwide BID tally to 5,827.
Sarawak logged the highest number of deaths at 31 (including 13 BID cases), followed by Johor (15 cases with one BID) and Sabah (11 cases with four BID).
Other states which registered Covid-19 fatalities were Perak (nine), Kelantan (six), Pahang (five), Penang (four), Terengganu (four), Negri Sembilan (three), Kuala Lumpur (three), Perlis (two), Kedah (one) and Selangor (one).
According to CovidNow, 68 per cent of Covid-19 deaths reported to date involved unvaccinated people followed by 21.2 per cent partially vaccinated and 10.9 per cent fully vaccinated.
Majority of deaths reported to date were among those aged 60 and above (54.6 per cent), followed by those aged between 18 and 59 (45 per cent), aged 12 to 17 (0.2 per cent) and 0 to 11 years (0.2 per cent).
To date, Malaysia recorded nine deaths per 10,000 people. Labuan and Selangor logged the highest number of deaths at 15 per 10,000 people.
This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (14 deaths per 10,000 people), Negri Sembilan (11), Johor (ten), Melaka (ten), Kedah (nine), Penang (nine), Sabah (six), Kelantan (five), Sarawak (five), Perak (four), Perlis (four), Pahang (four), Terengganu (four) and Putrajaya (two).
The country registered 6,377 fresh infections on Thursday, raising the cumulative number of cases to 2,454,749, including 71,358 active cases.
Of the active cases, 77.6 per cent (55,397) are undergoing home quarantine, 13.3 per cent (9,461) are placed in Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC), and 8.3 per cent (5,936) hospitalised.
A total 564 patients were currently being treated at intensive care units (ICU) at healthcare facilities nationwide with 299 of them ventilated.
Sarawak has the most active cases in ICU with 120 cases, followed by the Klang Valley with 111 cases (90 in Selangor, 20 in Kuala Lumpur and one in Putrajaya) and Sabah with 71 in ICU.
Active ICU cases in Perak stood at 58, Kelantan (46), Penang (37), Johor (35), Kedah (24), Terengganu (18), Melaka (15), Pahang (13), Negri Sembilan (10), Perlis (six).
Labuan has no patients in ICU.
In terms of ICU utilisation, states with over 60 per cent utilisation rate were Sarawak (80.8 per cent), Kelantan (74.2 per cent), Perak (67.6 per cent), Selangor (66.1 per cent), Penang (65 per ent), Klang Valley (63.6 per cent), Terengganu (63.2 per cent) and Putrajaya (60 per cent).
Meanwhile, 77.9 per cent of the total population had received at least one dose of their Covid-19 vaccine with 74 per cent fully vaccinated.
In total, 24,165,940 people had completed their vaccination.
Only the Klang Valley and Penang have over 80 per cent of their population fully vaccinated at 88 per cent and 82.2 per cent respectively.
The country is projected to reach its goal of having 80 per cent of the total population fully vaccinated by Dec 15.
Another 5,567 booster shots were administered on Thursday, raising the total number of booster doses given to date to 152,036.
