PAGOH: Teachers and school management should make things easier for students to return to schools, and refrain from taking action against those who do not wear their uniforms to class.
Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Mohd Jidin said schools should not be imposing any kind of uniform wear to students until the end of the school term this year in mid-December.
"The ministry has received several complaints from parents where schools have issued warning to students for not wearing their school uniform, although the ministry has allowed students to wear normal attire.
"Teachers should allow students to return to schools in their normal outfit as long as they are decent if their school uniforms or shoes no longer fit.
"Students should be allowed to wear anything that is decent to school until the end of term this year because we need to ease parents into making preparation for their children's return to school, instead of burdening those who cannot afford to buy a new set of uniform for their children," he said.
Radzi said this after visiting Sekolah Kebangsaan Semaseh here, to monitor the schools in the Pagoh and Ledang districts' preparation for the reopening of schools in Johor following the state's transition into Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Nov 8.
He added that more students would return to school physically nationwide starting next week under the NRP including Johor.
"More than 1.3 million students had returned to schools on Monday (Nov 1) for states and territories under Phase 4 of the NRP such as the Klang Valley and Melaka.
"This will include students who are sitting for their examinations this year will be returning to their classrooms as long as their schools have recorded more than 90 per cent vaccination rate," he said.
